Former Inter Milan assistant coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is set for a return to Italy after declaring he had accepted a job at his old club Sampdoria.
Mihajlovic is officially still coach of the Serbian national team, but is understood to be disappointed at the treatment given to him.
Serbia failed to qualify for the World Cup after finishing third in Group A, and Mihajlovic is certain to be back in Italy where he has managed a few teams.
"I decided to accept the offer of Sampdoria because I did not get the right guarantees from the Serbian Federation", he was quoted by Sky Italia as saying.

"I'm very sad. I'm leaving, but without permanently closing the door on a future return."
If successful, he will replace Delio Rossi who was sacked by Sampdoria following a run of poor results.
Sampdoria are currently 18th and in the Serie A relegation zone, and have won just two of their 12 league games.
Mihajlovic was assistant to Roberto Mancini at Inter, while he later held sway at Bologna, Catania and Fiorentina.
As a player, Mihajlovic represented Sampdoria for four years whilst also turning out for Roma, Inter, Lazio and Fiorentina.
