Feyenoord technical director Martin van Geel has revealed he plans to soon speak to his opposite number at Manchester City, Brian Marwood, about the availability of striker John Guidetti.

The Sweden international spent the 2011/12 campaign on loan at Feyenoord from Manchester City, earning many plaudits in a season in which he scored 20 Eredivisie goals, paving the way for a cooperation agreement between the clubs.

Guidetti has struggled to break through at Manchester City since returning from Rotterdam though and has explained he will look elsewhere if his situation does not change in January, with a figure of €5m mooted to be the asking price which has been slapped on his head.

And if Guidetti is available Feyenoord want to explore the possibility of his return, Van Geel has admitted, especially given a close relationship with the English club.

"The agreement with Marwood was already for longer and not initially about Guidetti", Van Geel told the Algemeen Dagblad.

"But when I am there I will of course talk to him about Guidetti. I read in the newspapers that he may soon leave for €5m, but I wonder if that is right.

"We still have close contact with John and that amount is not known to me in any case."

Van Geel also stressed that Guidetti remains welcome at De Kuip.

"Guidetti has a special place with us and that feeling is mutual. In the short term, I consider his arrival absolutely impossible. But who knows what the situation is like in a few months."
