Massimiliano Allegri's time as AC Milan manager is on the rocks with the club understood to be considering two former stars as potential replacements.

Jaap Stam and Clarence Seedorf are the names that could be given the chance to together help Milan out of their slump, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Allegri could only watch as Inter Milan pulled off a 1-0 defeat in the derby yesterday, meaning Milan are now 13th in Serie A.

Allegri's future has long been speculated about and should he not be allowed to continue Seedorf is being tipped with Stam as his assistant.

While Seedorf is currently turning out for Botafogo in South America, former Manchester United defender Stam is already on the training books at Ajax in a youth coach role.

Allegri's contract will run out next summer and there has been little indication about a renewal.

Both Allegri and Milan have long fought off any speculation about a replacement, with even names such as Italy coach Cesare Prandelli thrown into the mix.

The 46-year-old gave a hint about a potential exit in late November, by claiming: "It's normal that no technician is eternal."
