Swansea City have been dealt a festive blow with news that striker Michu will be out for six weeks with an ankle injury.
Michu is set for surgery on a troublesome ankle, and manager Michael Laudrup is resigning himself to losing the Spaniard for a considerable period.
The 27-year-old missed Sunday's defeat to Everton due to the niggle, in a season that had already seen him go through knee problems.
He missed three Premier League and two Europa League games then, and Laudrup today told the club website: "Unfortunately it has been confirmed that he will need an operation.

"The good news is that it can be done in the next week and he should be back playing in around a month and a half."
Nathan Dyer was already ruled out until February with ankle ligament damage, it leaves Laudrup with little choice but to delve into the winter transfer market.
"What has happened in the last couple of weeks has changed things", the Dane added. "We will probably do something now and try to add something that we don’t have in certain positions."
