Fabio Coentrao's suitors have been placed on alert with the news that Real Madrid are prepared to consider selling the left-back in the winter window.

The Portugal international came close to joining Manchester United in the summer and the Red Devils have been linked with rekindling their interest in January, while Juventus are also fans of the defender.

According to Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are willing to ship out Coentrao when the window re-opens and, failing that, in the summer.

Los Blancos have concluded that they have no use for the defender, who has started just twice in La Liga so far this term, and will so open the Bernabeu exit door.

A lack of first team football may also be cause for concern for the 25-year-old too, with Portugal heading to the World Cup in Brazil next summer.

Coentrao, who was brought to Real Madrid by Jose Mourinho in 2011, is under contract at the Bernabeu until 2017.
