Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Mido has claimed that Liverpool will sign his countryman Mohamed Salah from Basel next week and as a result Raheem Sterling will join Swansea City on loan.

Mido retired from football last year and currently works as a TV pundit for Al Jazeera. And the 30-year-old, who also counts Roma and Ajax amongst his former clubs, believes that another Egyptian is all but certain to follow in his footsteps by playing in the Premier League.

The ex-striker wrote on his Twitter account: "Liverpool is set to sign #Salah next week. He will get into the team straight away as Sterling will be sent out on loan to #swansea."

Mido also talked up Salah's potential to enjoy a positive spell at Anfield, backing the winger to dovetail beautifully with Luis Suarez.

He wrote: "#Salah is the perfect player for Liverpool as his pace and runs behind defenders will create space for Suarez and will give him time on ball."

Salah has been strongly linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent months, including Tottenham Hotspur.

The winger played a key role in helping Basel reach the semi-finals of the Europa League last season, while he has continued to shine with the Swiss Super League champions this term.
