Jorginho had been chased by Liverpool and Fiorentina recently, while a host host of clubs sent scouts to watch him in action, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Inter.

But it is Napoli who have won the race for Jorginho, with the Brazilian-born midfielder penning a contract which runs until the summer of 2018 with the Azzurri.

"I'm happy to wear the Napoli shirt, a big team with great supporters", he told his new club's site.

"It will be great to play at the San Paolo and I cannot wait to start my adventure in blue", he added.

Jorginho had powered Verona's impressive season so far, with the newly-promoted side currently sitting sixth in the Serie A table.

Napoli meanwhile are third, with 42 points from 19 games.
