Everton have been granted a work permit for striker Lacina Traore and have sealed a deal to take the Monaco player on loan for the remainder of the season.

However, the tall forward will not be able to play against Liverpool on Tuesday due to injury and Toffees boss Roberto Martinez has revealed he sees the Ivorian's role as being very much about making an impact on the club's last ten games of the season.

Martinez told Everton TV: "He's at the back of a soft tissue injury that he had and we need to make sure that that's fully healed before we can set him on the demands of the Barclays Premier League.

"But, we're talking a matter of weeks.

"Lacina's role will probably be for the last nine, ten games of the season. That's where I see his role being influential for us."

Everton currently sit sixth in the Premier League table with 42 points from 22 games.

They are just one point and two places below Liverpool, meaning a victory over the Reds at Anfield on Tuesday would see them leapfrog Brendan Rodgers' men in the standings.
