Manchester United are deadly serious in wanting to sign Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich and the German midfielder is no closer to penning a contract extension at the Allianz Arena.

Red Devils boss David Moyes was sat alongside Kroos' agent Sascha Breese last Friday, as Bayern Munich played Borussia Monchengladbach in their first game following the resumption of the Bundesliga.

And Moyes is positioning Manchester United to be ready in case of any opportunity to snap up the 24-year-old, whose deal with the Bavarians runs until 2015.

According to German daily Bild, Bayern Munich are not willing to put Kroos on the same earning level as the club's top stars, a group which includes Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm, Franck Ribery and Mario Gotze.

And that means that while the Bundesliga champions are desperate to convince Kroos to sign a new contract, they will not let him name his price on personal terms.

That approach is in contrast to Manchester United, who are willing to hand Kroos an extremely lucrative deal to head to Old Trafford.

However, should the midfielder enjoy a notable World Cup with Germany, the suitors may be queuing up to take him from the Allianz Arena on a big-money deal.
