Liverpool could be prepared to raise their offer bar above £15m for FC Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka as talks begin for the 24-year-old.

Dnipro have been contacted by Liverpool chiefs, according to the BBC, this after manager Brendan Rodgers claimed he was still looking to close a "major" signing this month.

The Reds pulled off a 4-0 win over rivals Everton yesterday and that has boosted hopes of a major capture in the winter transfer window.

Dnipro's Konoplyanka will be looking to secure his switch, after spending more than five years with the Ukrainian giants.

Konoplyanka made 20 appearances for Dnipro last season to power their top four finish, while he is already on 16 this campaign with five goals.

He even turned out for the Ukraine in their World Cup playoff tie against France, but was unable to prevent an aggregate defeat.

Liverpool have regardless made him a priority in the window, though it remains to be seen if the Reds will assent to paying more than the £15m demanded, especially when they balked at a lower price point for Mohamed Salah, who joined Chelsea on Sunday.

"Hopefully we can have a major signing before the window shuts", Rodgers said yesterday. "Hopefully we can do that, get the players back in and we'll be set up for the remaining games."
