FC Porto have sent out mixed signals to Manchester City over Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando, with the latter left out of Saturday's matchday squad.

Fernando is a late-winter target for Manchester City, as revealed today, with Mangala also included in Manuel Pellegrini's plans.

Mangala's inclusion could be a sign of Porto coach Paulo Fonseca holding on to the France international.

However, a similar logic pertains to Fernando, who was 'officially' ruled out of the Maritimo clash due to injury and whose contract runs out this summer.

"In the last training session before the game, Fernando underwent integrated work conditioning," a Porto statement read.

"[Nicolas] Otamendi was absent due to a myalgia effort in the posterior aspect of the right thigh."

Porto were previously being subject to interest in the duo from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United as well.
