Manchester City are making a late run for FC Porto duo Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando, according to the BBC, despite several other avenues of interest.

While AC Milan and Liverpool are vying for Fernando, it is Chelsea, Monaco and Manchester United who showed an interest in Mangala.

Manchester City had been in the market for Mangala last summer as well, but Porto abandoned discussions near to the deadline.

FC Porto could reap in a bumper transfer harvest, should any of the clubs succeed, given that super-agent Jorge Mendes is on Mangala's case.

Fernando too could command a significant transfer fee, with Manchester City's quadruple challenge needing the kind of midfield depth he provides.

The Citizens are considering both moves even as the transfer clock ticks down, and despite their summer spending that brought the likes of Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo.

Fernando may prove easier to acquire with his contract expiring in the summer, while Mangala's deal expires in 2016.
