Liverpool are facing stiff financial resistance from FC Dnipro over Yevhen Konoplyanka as both clubs remain locked in discussions.

The Reds were looking to seal the deal after travelling to the Ukraine, but Dnipro are understood to be laying down the conditions, according to Football.ua.

Dnipro are expecting the full transfer fee to be paid up front, alongside portions from bonuses, but Liverpool will accede to doing so only in parts.

It is not clear yet if the clubs will hold off on the move until the summer, especially with time running out on finalising the deal and the medical, or come to an agreement with both compromising.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers had admitted today that the Dnipro winger would be his last and final attempt at a transfer this window.

And a rushed attempt to close the signature could see Liverpool forgo parts of the medical until after the player puts pen to paper.

"We'll see how it evolves. It's obviously a little complicated, but we'll see," Rodgers had said today on the player who was also linked to Tottenham Hotspur.

"The staff over there have done brilliant work to give us every chance of getting the player. It's all happened very quickly. The timeline on everything makes it very tight."
