Rubin Kazan are closing in on PSV Eindhoven striker Tim Matavz after he was given permission to undergo a medical.

According to the Eindhovens Dagblad, Matavz will travel to Germany for his medical, as Rubin prepare to offer the PSV outcast a new lease of life.

Matavz was rumoured to be on the radars at Malaga as well at one point, but all signs now point towards Russia.

The deal is expected to be of good financial value to PSV, with Matavz's contract in Holland set to expire in 2016.

The centre-forward is unhappy with the lack of game time at present, and had long been yearning for a change.

He made 27 league appearances with 11 goals last season, but injury curtailed his participation to just 11 games so far this time.

Matavz is a Slovenia international, and has spent time playing in Holland since 2007 when he transferred from ND Gorica in his native land.

His agent had previously declared the Rubin Kazan switch would almost certainly go ahead, adding: "In Netherlands there is no club [that can offer] what Rubin Kazan can. I hope this comes about."
