Rubin Kazan coach Rinat Bilyaletdinov claims it was a disagreement with PSV Eindhoven, and not a failed medical, that primarily scuppered Tim Matavz's move.
Striker Matavz was all set to swap Holland for Russia this month, in what was reportedly an €8m deal.

However, the medical examination is understood to have brought up knee problems, which stalled the transfer.
Matavz's agent and PSV coach Phillip Cocu had both been hopeful on a possible reevaluation, but Bilyaletdinov appears to have moved on.

"On the question of the transition of Matavz, the clubs had not fully agreed," he told Izvestia. "The fact is, there were certain problems in the negotiations.
"As for the footballer's injury, we focus on the conclusion of the German doctors in Munich. However, I cannot give an evaluation of the medical diagnosis as it is the prerogative of Rubin's medical staff.
"Therefore, purchasing a striker is still on the agenda."
Matavz has been at PSV since the summer of 2011 but saw his game time reduced this season under Cocu.
