Manchester United legend Paddy Crerand believes that David Moyes deserves much credit for the way he has steered the Red Devils along the Champions League path this season.

Despite floundering in the Premier League and being knocked out of both domestic cup competitions, Manchester United are safely into the Champions League Round of 16 where they face Olympiacos.

Moyes' men topped their group in the tournament with 14 points from a possible 18, putting in some noteworthy performances along the way.

Crerand feels that Moyes deserves his share of the plaudits, telling Inside United: "The players have been excellent in Europe this season and David Moyes deserves a lot of credit for that.

"Getting out of the group wasn't easy, but we passed with flying colours."

And Crerand feels that the return of European football could also prove to be a boost for the Red Devils.

"Greece is a wonderful place with great weather and we have a fantastic support over there", he said.

"The locals are terrific people who get right behind their team, so it should be a fantastic atmosphere."
