Toni Kroos has admitted that talks over a contract extension at Bayern Munich have been put on hold until at least after the World Cup.

The Germany international, whose contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2015 and who has been targeted by Manchester United, has been unable to reach an agreement on a new deal.

Now speculation over Kroos' future is set to run and run with talks abandoned until the conclusion of the World Cup in Brazil as the 24-year-old bids to avoid any distractions.

"It does certainly not just revolve around money, that's not my character", Kroos told Kicker, when asked about the €8m-a-year deal which Bayern Munich have left on the table and which remains unsigned.

"But of course it revolves around it too, otherwise I would be lying", the midfielder added.

"We have been dealing with this subject for a very long time and had not managed to come to an agreement by January.

"There is no date as to when a decision has to be made.

"I want to be able to fully concentrate on the World Cup; I want to be left in peace during the World Cup."
