Leeds United manager Brian McDermott insists he already has a number of players in mind who can come into Elland Road over the summer to strengthen the team.

The club's season took another step towards ending with a whimper today when Nottingham Forest visited Elland Road and left 2-0 winners in a Championship clash.

Leeds are well out of the promotion reckoning and thoughts have turned to next season and creating a squad which can challenge for promotion to the Premier League.

Asked whether he has a list of players ready to hand to owner Massimo Cellino, McDermott told LUTV: "We're in talks this week.

"We've got situations where we think we can try and do something.

"We've got to make sure this squad's right up for this challenge of next season and we're competing at the right end of the table", the former Reading manager concluded.

Leeds, who sit 16th in the table, have games against Birmingham City (away) and Derby County (home) remaining this season.

Cellino has stated his intent for the club to be promoted within two years.
