Spanish champions Barcelona are on the trail of Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo, who is also the subject of interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.
The Argentine is able to operate as a left-back or centre-back, his versatility one of the features Barcelona are most impressed with.
The Blaugrana are planning to give their squad a facelift in the summer, even if they should succeed in defeating Atletico Madrid this weekend to retain La Liga.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Rojo is on the club's list of potential reinforcements with defence being an area which will be significantly strengthened following the departure of the long-serving Carles Puyol.
Sporting Lisbon snapped up Rojo from Spartak Moscow in 2012, the Argentine originally having taken his first steps in European football with the Russian side in 2011.
The 24-year-old has been a fixture for Sporting Lisbon this term, making 24 appearances in the Primeira Liga, even chipping in with four goals.
His deal in the Portuguese capital runs until 2016.
