Manchester United are poised to reopen talks with Southampton today over the possible transfer of Luke Shaw, according to the BBC.

The Red Devils previously made a £27m bid for the young left-back, who is in England manager 23-man squad for the World Cup, but the Saints knocked it back.

But with manager Mauricio Pochettino already moving to Tottenham Hotspur and striker Rickie Lambert on the brink of signing for Liverpool, Southampton may find it hard to convince the 18-year-old to prolong his career at St Mary's Stadium.

The starlet was in fine form for Southampton in the recently concluded season and helped his side to an eighth-place Premier League finish. Shaw was rewarded with a spot in Roy Hodgson's England squad to head to the World Cup.
