Leeds United have two leading candidates to take over as the club's new manager: Benito Carbone and Gianfranco Zola.

The Yorkshire giants are looking for a new manager following their decision to part ways with Brian McDermott recently.

Leeds, owned by Italian businessman Massimo Cellino, are implementing a new management structure at Elland Road, which will see the new boss take on a more continental style coaching role.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Carbone and Zola lead the list of candidates for the post.

Carbone is already at Leeds, having been appointed as a consultant by Cellino, with a wide-ranging brief to review football operations.

Zola meanwhile is no stranger to the Italian way of working, while he is also well-versed in English football, having managed both Watford and West Ham.

The former Chelsea forward, who is from Sardinia, finished his playing career at Cagliari in 2005.
