Xherdan Shaqiri looks to have taken a big step towards ending the transfer speculation surrounding him this summer by explaining his intention is to stay at Bayern Munich.

The Switzerland international recently expressed his displeasure with his situation at the Allianz Arena, believing current coach Pep Guardiola does not have the same faith in him as predecessor Jupp Heynckes.

Liverpool, long-time admirers of the former FC Basel man, have been linked with rekindling their interest and Shaqiri has admitted that a move to England is an option.

However, the winger has now cast doubt on whether he will move from the German giants this summer.

Asked on the sidelines of Switzerland's training camp in Brazil where he would be playing his football next season, he replied: "I'll still be at Bayern Munich."

Shaqiri will undoubtedly expect a key role under Guardiola to stay with the Bavarians though.

He has already gone on record as stressing he is not prepared to sit on the sidelines for another season when Bayern Munich play big games.

The Swiss winger said: "It is clear that I cannot continue in this way. If nothing changes, I will need to myself change some things.

"I want to play in the important games and not just in the Bundesliga. I won't go through another year like this."
