Liverpool have cooled on completing a deal for Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno, despite initially reaching an agreement on the sum to be paid to Los Rojiblancos.
The Reds were willing to pay €20m plus a further €2m in add-ons for the Spain international defender, with Moreno himself set to pocket €1.5m per year on a five-year deal.
There had been some disagreement over the installments the transfer fee should be paid in, with Sevilla wanting a larger chunk up front, which delayed completion.
The deal was still expected to go ahead however. Now though, it is in doubt.
According to Seville-based daily Estadio Deportivo, Liverpool have backed away from completing the transfer as they are concerned the fee involved for Moreno may be too high.

The Merseyside giants, who finished second in the Premier League last season, have now asked for a second opinion on the deal from their trusted transfer advisors.
And at present Liverpool are not willing to close the deal for Moreno at the previously agreed sum.
Moreno remains ready to move to Anfield, having been sold the club by former Sevilla team-mate Luis Alberto, who made the move last summer.
