Leeds United are looking at making a move for Palermo winger Ignacio Lores Varela, as they continue their shopping spree in Italy.

Owned by former Cagliari owner Massimo Cellino, the Yorkshire giants have already signed a number of players from Italy, bringing in goalkeeper Marco Silvestri, right-back Gaetano Berardi, midfielder Tommaso Bianchi and striker Souleymane Doukara.

They are also chasing Juventus defender Frederik Sorensen, while midfielder Zan Benedicic is expected to arrive from AC Milan.

Cagliari schemer Adryan is another in Leeds' sights and he has been joined by Varela, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

The Uruguayan struggled for playing time at Palermo last season and was sent on loan to Bari for the latter half of the campaign.

Varela also found regular first team football hard to come by at the southern Italian club and may look kindly on a switch to Leeds.

The winger's contract at Palermo runs until the summer of 2016.
