Serie A side Cagliari have dropped a strong hint that they intend to keep hold of Leeds United target Adryan.

The young Brazilian attacking midfielder, who moved to Cagliari earlier this year from Flamengo during Massimo Cellino's reign at the Sardinian club, is wanted at Elland Road by the Italian supremo.

But Cagliari have handed Adryan the number 10 shirt for the season ahead, announcing their official squad numbers, in a clear sign he is seen as central to their plans.

Cellino has been pushing to persuade Adryan to move to Leeds, but the midfielder is cool on leaving Cagliari for England.

And with the Serie A side setting out their stall by handing Adryan a key shirt number, Leeds' chances of signing the Brazil Under-20 international are receding.

Adryan was restricted to just five appearances in Serie A last season, seeing injury cut short his campaign.

He turned out in a friendly yesterday and is highly rated by Cagliari coach Zdenek Zeman.

Adryan has had the chance to move to England before, but rejected an approach from Manchester United.
