Ajax coach Frank de Boer says he is planning for the upcoming campaign on the assumption that Daley Blind remains at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Blind, who further boosted his standing at the World Cup with the Netherlands this summer, has been linked with leaving Ajax amid interest from both Barcelona and Manchester United.

It has been claimed in England that Manchester United, now managed by former Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal, are in the process of putting together a big-money bid for the 24-year-old.

De Boer insists he has heard nothing about that and is planning for Blind to still be at the club when the transfer window slams shut, despite admitting things can quickly change in football.

"They are currently only rumours", De Boer told NOS when asked about talk of a bid for Blind.

"We all know that if there is a certain amount on the table we cannot refuse. Then we'll wish him all the best.

"But I have not heard anything about it, so I am assuming that he still stays for a year. I think it's best for him, but on the other hand, the temptation is there if such a big club comes."

De Boer's men got off to a positive start in their Eredivisie campaign this season by putting Vitesse to the sword 4-1 at the weekend.
