Manchester United star Angel di Maria has saluted his debut at Old Trafford, after he scored in a comfortable 4-0 thrashing of QPR.

Di Maria got the hosts off to a good start when he curled in a free-kick which beat QPR goalkeeper Rob Green after 24 minutes. It took the QPR custodian by surprise after all had been expecting a cross.

Ander Herrera then drilled home a second after 36 minutes, before Wayne Rooney found the back of the net on the stroke of half time to put Louis van Gaal's men in total control.

Juan Mata then capped off the victory by scoring Manchester United's fourth in the 58th minute, while the Old Trafford faithful also got a glimpse of Radamel Falcao off the bench.

"I'm very happy for my debut and a first goal", Di Maria told Sky Sports post-match.

"I have been practicing those free-kicks this week, so it is not a surprise for me", the Argentine added.

Di Maria was also handed the man of the match awards for his efforts.

The former Real Madrid winger was replaced by Adnan Januzaj in the 82nd minute.
