Manchester United’s revenue for the first quarter of the financial year 2014/15 has dropped by 9.9% due to a lack of Champions League football.

Revenue for the three-month period ending on 30th September was £88.7m, down £9.8m compared to £98.5million for the same period a year ago.

The Red Devils missed out on a bonus payment from Nike due to their failure to qualify for Champions League football this season.

Revenues from broadcasting and matchdays also fell down due to a lack of European football this term.

However, the drop in income has been partially compensated for with an increase in sponsorship revenues and a lowering of the wage bill has also helped.
