The agent of winger Juan Manuel Iturbe has revealed that two English clubs are willing to pay €22m to sign his client from Serie A side Roma.

Iturbe turned heads with his performances at Hellas Verona in the Italian top flight last season and as such became the centre of a summer transfer scramble.

Despite being linked with AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona and Liverpool, Roma won the race for the former FC Porto man and took him to the Stadio Olimpico on a five-year contract.

Having struggled to hit the heights expected at Roma this season though, Iturbe has been linked with leaving the club. And though his agent does not expect that to happen, he has confirmed clubs want his client, with specifically two English sides ready to hand Roma back the money they paid last year.

Gustavo Mascardi told Radio Crc: "Napoli had taken Iturbe, but then a formal clause relating to non-EU players made the deal fall apart.

"I think that he will remain at Roma next year, but there are two teams in England who would be willing to pay the amount that Roma shelled out."

Iturbe has made 29 appearances in all competitions for Roma so far this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

The winger saw his campaign interrupted by a knee injury in February this year, but has clocked up the full 90 minutes in each of Roma's last two Serie A games, against Napoli and Torino respectively.
