Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is confident his former side will be contenders for the Premier League if they can consistently perform.

Henry, who won two Premier League titles with the Gunners, believes that Arsene Wenger’s side are good enough to challenge for the title with the players they have, but the only thing missing is consistency.

“I keep on mentioning players, all that we are waiting on is the consistency in the league”, said the former world and European champion to Arsenal’s official website.

He feels the players talking about being consistent points to their growing sense of responsibility and is confident of their ability to achieve it.

“I saw some of the players talking about that consistency, and I know they have the quality to do it”, added Henry, who has special words for the qualities of Mesut Ozil.

Henry is impressed with the German’s influence on the Gunners’ style of play, and is a firm fan of his world class attributes.

“Mesut is a very good player, we all know about his quality, we all know about what he has done in the game.

“He is a world champion, you have to respect that and his vision on the pitch is tremendous.

“He is an amazing player. When he is on song like he was in the FA Cup final, he is difficult to stop.

“When you have the likes of [Olivier] Giroud in the box, Alexis Sanchez running at people and Theo [Walcott] too, Mesut can see a pass and control the game in the same way that Santi [Cazorla] does.”

Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2004, when Henry was part of their fabled ‘Invincibles’. The Gunners will hope to challenge for the league next season after securing back-to-back FA Cup titles last season.
