Jose Irribarren, one of Gaitan's representatives, has claimed that talks have taken place with Manchester United over his client and the Argentine is waiting for the Red Devils to make the next move.

Speaking to Portuguese radio station Antena 1, Irribarren was asked about Gaitan moving to Manchester United and replied: “Anything is possible as the negotiations are pending.
“We are waiting for the Manchester United hierarchy to respond and other than that I cannot do anything more.”
Gaitan’s contract with Benfica runs out in the summer of 2018 and it contains a release clause of €35m.
