Manchester United starlet Indy Boonen’s father, Jacky Boonen, has revealed that his son only wanted to join the English giants this summer.
The Red Devils snapped up the 16-year-old attacking midfielder from KRC Genk’s youth academy and have drafted him into their Under-18 set-up.
His father revealed that a number of clubs were vying for his attention and he underwent a trial with Red Bull Salzburg before he did the same with Manchester United.
He was also invited by big European names such as Arsenal and Ajax, but once he trained with Manchester United, Jacky said that Indy only wanted to join the 20-time Premier League champions.
Speaking to Het Belang van Limburg, Indy’s father said: “Indy first went on trial with Salzburg, Manchester United were the second club.

“Arsenal, Feyenoord, Wolfsburg and Basel were also after him; Ajax had also shown an interest”, Boonen senior continued.
“But Indy always wanted to join Manchester United and after his week-long trial period he called me and said, ‘I want to play football here’.”
Boonen is on a three-year deal with Manchester United and has been named as one of the substitutes for their Under-18 fixture against Newcastle United today.
Manchester United are also interested in his brother Seppe, who is a goalkeeper, but have failed to sign him because he is still only 13.
