Despite Leeds United being Liam Bridcutt's favoured destination, competition from Reading and Cardiff City is complicating matters, it has been claimed.

Whites boss Steve Evans is desperate to complete a loan swoop for Bridcutt and ideally would like the Sunderland midfielder to be at his disposal for a friendly match against Wycombe Wanderers on Friday night.

But even though Bridcutt favours a move to Leeds, the deal is being held up and no developments are expected today.

Indeed, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, interest from Reading and Cardiff is complicating a swoop for the former Brighton midfielder.

Bridcutt has not played for Sunderland this season and is keen to secure regular first team football as he looks to kick-start his career.

Evans is a firm fan of the Chelsea youth product and wants to draft him in at Elland Road.

But other Championship clubs are keen on Bridcutt and appear to be giving the Whites a run for their money.

Leeds beat Huddersfield Town 3-0 at the weekend to record back-to-back victories under Evans, but the Scot still wants to make additions to his squad.
