Hibernian midfielder Fraser Fyvie has accepted a two-game ban handed to him by the Scottish FA for simulation during the game against Rangers on Monday at Ibrox.

Rangers secured a 4-2 win against Hibs yesterday at Ibrox, but midfielder Andy Halliday was sent off in the 70th minute, for what the referee, Bobby Madden, perceived to be a head-butt on Fyvie.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been handed a two-match ban for feigning an injury and forcing the match referee to make an incorrect decision, and Fyvie has opted not to contest it.

Halliday had barged against the arm of the 22-year-old midfielder with his shoulder, but Fyvie clutched his face and writhed on the ground.

A statement on the Scottish FA’s official website read: “You [Fyvie] committed an act of simulation in that you feigned that you had received a blow to the face or head from Andrew Halliday of Rangers FC.

“That this act of simulation supported an error of judgement by the Match Referee that Andrew Halliday had head-butted you upon the face or head, and caused the Match Referee to make an incorrect decision to dismiss Andrew Halliday for the offence of violent conduct.”

The Gers have appealed the red card against Halliday for unfair dismissal and a hearing will take place on 7th January 2016.

Fyvie will miss the league and fourth-round Scottish Cup clashes against Raith Rovers.
