Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino claims that West Ham's bid for Sam Byram is lower than that on the table from Everton, bemoaning that he cannot control which club the 22-year-old chooses to sign for.

Both Everton and West Ham have had offers for the right-back accepted by Leeds and it appears the Hammers are in pole position to sign the starlet.

Byram, who was not involved in Leeds' weekend defeat away at Sheffield Wednesday, has held talks with Everton, but returned to training with the Whites at Thorp Arch on Monday morning.

Now West Ham have made their move for Byram and appear likely to beat Everton to the defender's signature, something Cellino has given the impression of not being best pleased with.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Leeds supremo has claimed West Ham's offer for Byram is "much lower" than Everton's.

But the Italian bemoaned he "can't control where the player wants to go".

Byram is out of contract with Leeds at the end of the season and has knocked back repeated attempts by the Whites to convince him to sign an extension.

The 22-year-old, who has made 143 appearances for the Yorkshire giants, now looks set to exit the club later this week.
