Tottenham Hotspur legend Les Ferdinand believes loan spells at Norwich City and Leicester City were the making of Spurs hitman Harry Kane.

The striker netted his 22nd Premier League goal of the season at the weekend in a 1-1 draw away at Liverpool and as a result broke Spurs' club record for the most goals in a Premier League campaign.

Kane has banished any thoughts he could be a one season wonder and is currently powering Spurs' Premier League title push.

However, it did take time for Kane to establish himself at White Hart Lane and he had spells with Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich and Leicester on loan.

And Ferdinand feels Kane's time at Norwich and Leicester was key as it made him knuckle down and work harder on his return to Spurs.

"We all knew Harry was a good finisher, watching him in training every day and the way he went about his finishing, the dedication he put into it", Ferdinand told Spurs' official site.

"I saw the change in him when he went to Norwich on loan, it didn’t really work out for him there and after that, he went on loan to Leicester, I watched him a couple of times and it was tough for him.

"He came back and knuckled down and those experiences really gave him the drive to work on the things he needed to work on, his strength, his durability, his speed and from the moment he’s got into the side he’s gone from strength to strength", the former Spurs hitman added.

Kane, who has won ten senior England caps, will hope to take his form from this season into this summer's European Championship in France.
