Manchester City are eyeing making a move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Wendell in the summer, according to Catalan daily Sport.

The Brazilian has been a vital member of Bayer Leverkusen’s team since joining the club from Gremio in 2013.




Wendell has thus far made 44 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit in the present campaign, providing three assists.

And incoming Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has given his approval to the Citizens attempting to sign Wendell, having watched the left-back at close quarters during his managerial spell at Bayern Munich.
 


The 22-year-old’s impressive displays for Bayer Leverkusen have caught the eye of several European giants, including Real Madrid.

Wendell, whose present contract with Bayer Leverkusen runs until the summer of 2019, started his playing career at Brazilian club Iraty.

He is yet to earn a senior cap for Brazil but has represented the nation at Under-20 and Under-23 levels.
