Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says that Mario Gotze must assess how much playing time he will enjoy at the Allianz Arena next season if he stays at the club.
Gotze's contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2017 and he did appear to be on his way out of the club recently, with a switch to Liverpool, where he would reunite with former Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp, seeming to be the likely course of action for the midfielder.
But Gotze dramatically decided to remain at Bayern Munich and insisted he is looking forward to working under new boss Carlo Ancelotti next season.
Rummenigge accepts Gotze's view, but told German magazine Kicker: "Mario has made a clear and serious announcement.
"He knows how the club thinks and he knows how the future coach thinks", the CEO added.

And Rummenigge, who says that he has had talks with both Gotze and Ancelotti, feels the midfielder must assess what he will receive in the way of playing time next term, if he stays put at the Allianz Arena.
"I have had talks with him, and Ancelotti.
"Mario knows the thoughts of FC Bayern. Maybe he just wants to rest and play in the European Championship.
"Mario must assess for himself: 'Will I play consistently?'" Rummenigge added.
The Bayern Munich supremo's words are sure to hand encouragement to Liverpool, where Klopp is a firm fan of Gotze's talents.
