Leeds United have not made an approach for former Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson with regards to their managerial search.

The Yorkshire giants are yet to appoint a successor to Garry Monk, who joined Middlesbrough this week, and they have been conducting interviews to zero in on a candidate.

Former Olympiacos boss Victor Sanchez and former Real Madrid captain Fernando Hierro are currently the front runners to take up the job at Elland Road this summer.

There was also talk that Leeds could make a move for former Leicester manager Pearson, one of the names Middlesbrough were looking at before appointing Monk this month.

However, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Whites have made no attempt to contact Pearson or his entourage, indicating that he is not in the running to become the next Leeds manager.

Pearson has experience of earning promotion with Leicester from the Championship, but it seems the experienced British manager is not on Andrea Radrizzani’s radar.

The Leeds players are due to return for pre-season training at the end of the month and the club are expected to announce the appointment of a new manager by that time.
