A member of the entourage of Leeds United linked Yannis Salibur has stomped on suggestions the attacking midfielder suddenly put up his wage demands at the last minute on deadline day, scuppering a switch to Saint-Etienne.
Guingamp were willing to sell Salibur for around the €10m mark through the summer and Leeds were linked with having put in a bid in the middle of the transfer window.
As time ticked by, no club hit Guingamp's asking price and the French outfit eventually accepted an €8m proposal from Saint-Etienne, leading to Salibur having a medical with Les Verts and talking personal terms.
But the move collapsed on deadline day amid claims that Salibur had raised his wage demands at the last minute and Saint-Etienne had refused to play ball.
But a member of Salibur's entourage insists there was no last minute pay hike demand from the player's side and there was simply no agreement on salary all the way through the negotiations.

"We had wage demands for Yannis which corresponded to his value in our view", the source close to the player told Foot Mercato.
"Saint-Etienne had another view of things.
"In order to continue the negotiations, we decided to go along for the medical and continue the talks.
"Yannis really was very interested in the project at Saint-Etienne. He wanted to go", he stressed.
"The negotiations took place in a calm environment. We were very well received by Saint-Etienne, but we simply could not agree on the salary aspect.
"At no time did we make any last minute requests on the level of the salary."
With the window closed, Salibur is staying at Guingamp, but clubs could make a renewed play for the highly-rated attacking midfielder when the window swings back open again in January.
