Rangers have completed the permanent signing of left-back Declan John, who had been linked with Leeds United.

The Gers snapped John up on a season-long loan deal from English Championship side Cardiff City in the summer, but it had been speculated the Bluebirds could look to sell him in January as his deal expires at the end of the campaign.

Leeds, who are believed to be looking to sign a full-back, have been linked with having an interest in the 22-year-old.

But it is Rangers who have acted quickly to make sure the defender stays put at Ibrox on a permanent basis.

No transfer fee has been disclosed by the Glasgow giants, but John has put pen to paper to a contract running until the summer of 2021 at Ibrox.

John has clocked up 14 appearances for Rangers during his loan spell so far, featuring heavily at left-back in the absence of captain Lee Wallace, who has been out injured.

Rangers, who also on Friday confirmed Graeme Murty as manager until the end of the season, will be hoping to see John kick on at the club.
