Steven Thompson has hit out at Rangers for refusing to speak to the media following their 5-0 defeat away at Celtic on Sunday.

The Gers collapsed at Parkhead as Celtic ran riot, scoring five goals without reply and clinching their seventh straight Scottish top flight title in the process.

After the game Rangers manager Graeme Murty did not appear to address the media, while none of his backroom staff filled in. No Rangers players were put up for interviews either, while the club's in-house TV channel Rangers TV also had no post match reaction.

Thompson thinks that it was not acceptable for Rangers to simply go into hiding after the game.

"No, it's not acceptable", the former Rangers striker said on BBC Sportsound Extra.

"I thought it was a really poor decision from a class point of view, come out and say congratulations, well done Celtic.

"It doesn't matter if you don't like Celtic. You have to say it. That's how you operate as a club with a good bit about them."

Thompson also insists the Rangers fans deserved to hear from the club they loyally follow.

"Not only that. Where's your communication with the supporters? Where is your communication with the many Rangers fans around the world who want to know the manager's thoughts on the game", he added.

Rangers cannot shut the book on the season yet with three games still to play as they battle to finish in second spot in the Scottish Premiership standings.
