Napoli are currently engaged in talks with Sampdoria as they look to push through a deal for Everton and Arsenal linked Lucas Torreira.

Torreira has been identified by Napoli as their priority for the summer as they look to seek a replacement for Jorginho, who is expected to join Manchester City soon.

Napoli have been in touch with Sampdoria to work out deal for the midfielder despite the presence of a €25m release clause in the Uruguayan’s contract.

Negotiations have been slow and there are suggestions other teams could hijack their move Torreira, with Everton and Arsenal reportedly interested in signing him this summer.

However, Napoli are back on track with negotiations and according to Sky Italia, club sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is currently in a meeting with the Sampdoria hierarchy for Torreira in a Milanese hotel.

The two clubs are trying to reach an agreement over the payment formula as the €25m release clause is applicable only until the end of next month.

Napoli are prepared to pay around €30m and delay the payment to push through a deal for the 22-year-old midfielder.

The Serie A giants are looking to close out an agreement as soon as possible and deliver a key target to new coach Carlo Ancelotti soon.
