Reading manager Paul Clement thinks that the Royals looked on the same level as Leeds United and had them hanging on for a win in the end on Tuesday night in the Championship, as the Whites ran out 1-0 winners.

The Whites moved to second in the league table with a dramatic win over visitors Reading at Elland Road, after Bailey Peacock-Farrell denied Marc McNulty from the penalty spot in the 89th minute.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men were made to work harder than expected by a determined Reading side that almost salvaged a point out of their close encounter in west Yorkshire.

However, Peacock-Farrell’s brilliance in the end meant that the Royals had nothing to show for their hard work throughout the game as Stuart Dallas’ second half strike proved to be the difference between both sides.

Clement, who was satisfied with everything but the result on Tuesday, claimed that Reading looked on the same level as Leeds and had them hanging on for a win in the end.

The Reading boss also added that anyone watching the game without any idea of the league table would not have been able to tell who was second and who was fighting against relegation.

"Anyone watching that game not knowing which team was where in the league wouldn't have been able to tell who was second and who was near the bottom”, Clement was quoted as saying by the Reading Chronicle.

"Both sets of players were dead on their feet at the end, they gave absolutely everything.

"I saw Leeds, a team now second in the Championship, hanging on at the end.

"We were the team advancing forwards and creating chances.

"So it's a strange feeling.

"As a professional you want to win games and points, but that might have been one of the best games we’ve played this season."

Reading continue to remain in 20th in the league table and level on points with all of Millwall, who have a game in hand, Hull City and Bolton Wanderers below them.
