Rangers talent Nathan Patterson has conceded the transition from the academy to the first team demands a higher intensity, but admits he is hoping to be ready when the time comes.

Patterson, who was promoted to David McCallum’s Under-18s side last summer, has enjoyed a successful season with the young Gers this term.

The 17-year-old played an integral role during Rangers Under-18s triumph over Celtic in the Youth Cup final at Hampden Park last week, in what worked out to be an impressive display from the Gers.

And following success over bitter rivals Celtic, Patterson has admitted he is hoping to making his mark at senior level as soon as he can with Rangers.

However, the Gers talent conceded the transition to senior football will subsequently demand higher intensity, as the first team operate at a different level compared to the Under-18s.

When asked about making his senior debut, Patterson said in a Q&A on Twitter: “Hopefully as soon as I can.

“You have to make sure when the time comes you are ready and can stand out.

“It’s a massive difference to be honest. They play at a higher intensity and level.”

Patterson also pointed to his ability to read the game well and trust in his technique as the strongest attributes to his game at the minute.

“Strongest part of [my] game – I can read the game well and take the ball under pressure.

"I can trust my technique”, he added.

Patterson has notched up five caps for Scotland at Under-17 level.
