Former Hibernian attacker Tam McManus is convinced that Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty would be a great signing for Hibs, if they can snare him away in the summer.

Docherty, who joined Shrewsbury Town in League One on loan last summer, has been a revelation under Sam Ricketts at the New Meadow so far this term.

The 22-year-old has impressed with his performances in England and Hibs boss Paul Heckinbottom is believed to be interested in luring him away from Ibrox in the summer.

As such, McManus has given his backing to a potential swoop and says that Docherty would prove to be a great signing for Hibs, if they manage to convince Rangers about letting him go in the summer.

The former Hibs forward feels Docherty has the legs and energy to make life easier for the likes of Stevie Mallan and Scott Allan in midfield for the team and reiterated he would be a huge addition to the side at Easter Road.

“[Docherty has] the legs and energy to do the running and dirty work for [Stevie] Mallan and Scott Allan”, McManus wrote on Twitter.

“Would be a great signing for Hibs.”
