Barry Ferguson believes Rangers thoroughly deserved their win against Aberdeen on Sunday as they were in control throughout, despite not being at their destructive best.

Steven Gerrard’s men made it four wins in a row in the Scottish Premiership since their Old Firm derby defeat last month, after registering a 2-0 win over Aberdeen at Ibrox on Sunday.

The Light Blues all but secured second place in the Premiership with the victory that was powered by a brace from James Tavernier, who converted two penalties in the second half.

And although Rangers were not at their menacing best, Ferguson believes they did enough to thoroughly deserve maximum points after being in control throughout the game.

The Gers legend admitted that Rangers have played better this season, but stressed the importance of getting the job done and not losing control at any stage against Aberdeen on Sunday.

“Yeah, I think they deserved to win the game [against Aberdeen on Sunday]”, Ferguson said on the PLZ Soccer show.

“I’ve seen them play better, I think in previous games against Hearts and Motherwell they were a lot better, but listen they got the job done and I don’t think they were at any danger of losing the game.

“They were in control of it, just a couple of chances that could have gone their way, but listen they kept digging away and I know they got two penalties, but you’ve got to put them in the back of the net as well.

“Overall, good day’s work and good three points.”

Rangers will now face Hibernian on Sunday, when they return to action in the Premiership at Ibrox.
