The Hammers were thrashed 5-0 by Fulham at the weekend in a shock result, but Moyes could point to a sickness bug which has gone through his camp.

With West Ham solidly placed in the Premier League, on course to go through to the knockout round in the Europa League and still in the EFL Cup, Moyes is secure in his job.

However, his deal is due to expire in the summer and it is unlikely West Ham will offer him a new one.

Only a strong end to the campaign could convince the Hammers to move to keep Moyes on at the London Stadium.

The uncertainty over Moyes’ long term status at West Ham could also have an impact on the club’s business in the looming January transfer window.

Moyes may want to do business in January to strengthen his options, but the jury is out on whether the club would back a manager who may not be there next season heavily.

West Ham are due to play host to German side Freiburg in the Europa League on Thursday night, before they then entertain Wolves in the Premier League.
