FC Utrecht are busily working on a deal to bring Sam Lammers back to the Eredivisie from Rangers.

The 26-year-old moved to Scotland only last summer and has since featured in 31 games overall for the Glasgow giants, making four goal contributions.

However, Lammers has struggled to make any kind of impact at Ibrox and Gers boss Philippe Clement is willing to let him leave this month.

Utrecht have been linked with wanting Lammers and, according to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, they are working busily in an effort to tie up a deal.

They are trying to sign Lammers on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Lammers may find the prospect of a return to the Netherlands to be an attractive one given his struggles in recent years.

The attacker has scored just eight goals during spells with five clubs in recent seasons.

It remains to be seen if Utrecht negotiate for an option to buy to be included in the loan agreement with Rangers.
