Bayern Munich are set to hold a crucial round of talks with Newcastle United today in their pursuit of Kieran Trippier.

Newcastle are clear about not wanting to sell the defender this month and have made it clear to the player.

They have also knocked back approaches for both a loan and a permanent deal from Bayern Munich for the right-back.

Nordi Mukiele is one more player the German champions are trying to sign but they are yet to find a breakthrough in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Bavarians have not lost sight of Trippier yet and according to German daily Bild, the two clubs are set to hold a crucial round of talks for Trippier’s potential move to Germany.

Bayern Munich are not prepared to throw the towel in their pursuit of the 33-year-old despite Newcastle’s reluctance.

They are hoping to convince the Magpies to consider an offer to let Trippier move to Bavaria before the end of the window.

Eddie Howe does not want to lose a senior player such as the defender but Newcastle also need player sales to boost their chances of getting new signings this month.

It remains to be seen whether today’s talks pave the way for a deal to get agreed upon between the two clubs for Trippier to join Bayern Munich in the coming week or so.
